    Norwegian Art by Christian Skredsvig

Norwegian Art by Christian Skredsvig -- "Willow Flute" or Soljeflyten Norwegian Art is featured at Lena and Ole's Gifts.  We have a number of outstanding prints such as this famous painting by Christian Skresdvig called the "Willow Flute" or Seljefloyten (in Norwegian).  The painting is seen as a deep connection between poetry, painting art, and music.  Although the painting didn't receive much notice when completed in 1889, it was featured on a stamp in Norway in 2005.  We are very pleased to have a number of Skredsvig prints available for purchase.  Skredsvig even has ties to little Woodville, Wisconsin since his brother emigrated to Wisconsin and settled just south of Woodville in the late 1800s while Christian remained in Norway.  So today, Christian has many great nieces and nephews in our area that we have had the opportunity to meet.

We (Lena & Ole) had an opportunity to visit Skredsvig's home, Hagan, high in the hills near Eggedal, Norway, in May.  It was a very special visit to see the actual items he painted, such as the famous painting of Deep Lake, while we were there.  Stop in at Lena and Ole's Gifts to see more pictures of our trip, see the many new postcards and art note cards we have of his work, and the prints — framed and unframed that are loved by so many.
